Nothing happens on the server side other than it generates a message that is passed to the client that there is insufficient bandwidth. You can use this on the client to inform the client that there is not enough bandwidth for the content. Yes you can setup multiple servers that stream from one source. You copy the stream from one server to another. Have a look at <a href="http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/ssaslr/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11a11afc95e-7e76SSASLR.html#WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11a11afc95e-7f6dSSASLR" rel="nofollow">Netconnection.connect</a> and <a href="http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/ssaslr/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11a11aff5ba-7d13SSASLR.html#WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11a11afc95e-7fd6SSASLR" rel="nofollow">Netstream.publish</a>

There are several ways to deploy Adobe Connect. First you can install it in your own datacenter, you could also use the Adobe hosted option or go with managed services (Adobe runs it but it is not shared. It is dedicated). If you go with either hosted or managed services you do not pay for bandwidth. If you run the server then you do. The amount of bandwidth required depends on what you are doing with the server. If you intend to serve presentations that were converted from powerpoint the bandwidth requirement is very low. If you add screensharing and a bunch of webcams that will add to the bandwidth requirements.

If you are serving a large audience, say 1000, will the adobe connect server have to deal with the bandwidth requirements of the 1000 videos that need to be served up? Or does each video get served to the users computer?
What i'm trying to say is, is the Adobe Connect server a bottle neck of sorts for large quantities of video?

The main.asc is located in each application directory. For instance if you look at the installation directory you will see a directory called applications. You can create a directory in that directory with any name (no spaces). Inside of that directory create another directory called streams and inside the streams directory create another directory called _defInst_. You will put your ondemand video in this folder. You will place your main.asc in the first directory that you created under the application directory.

I am running Interactive 4 on Linux, where do you edit the main.asc file at? I did a locate on the file, added the code and it did not work.

Do you have to copy the main.asc to another directory?

I would like to get the server locked down, since anyone can connect to it.

In the Linux install the main.acs file is located in this directory:

/opt/adobe/fms/applications/livepkgr

main.asc

Do you have to copy this file to this directory:

/opt/adobe/fms/applications/live

main.asc

I am not sure where to add this authentication in the FMS Interactive Server 4?

Any help would be great.

There is an article about securing FMS on this blog. The only difference is that you would connect to a webservice on the server side (main.asc). So that when someone tries to view a video they are presented with a username and password. That username and password is passed to the server. In the main.asc you will do a lookup using the webservice capability to check to make sure that they are valid user.
